The Worst Songs Ever

I was surfing my usual on-line reads this morning when I came upon this story. Some dude on CNN.com is soliciting votes for the worst songs ever. Suddenly I was bombarded with songs from a variety of genres that I thought were buried forever. And these are not songs that I just don't like, oh no, these are songs that I hate! These are songs that I can't tolerate and will pull my eardrums out through my nose to prevent myself from listening to it. It also means that if I hear these songs, I would have to kill you for making me listen to it and kill myself for allowing it to happen...Yeah, you get the picture. Now, you understand how hard this is for me. We all have our choices and I find myself in a quandary...so many to choices and so little time. Here's my list (in no particular order):

1. Black-Eyed Peas - My Humps -- I hate the lyrics to this song and it's annoying as hell.

2. Pussycat Dolls - Beep -- This is a fairly new song right now, but for the love of all that is good and pure, whenever I hear this song on the radio it makes me want to take the radio and throw it against the wall and then take the pieces and shove them in a blender.

3. Billy Ray Cyrus - Archy Breaky Heart -- Enough said.

4. Los Del Rio - Macarena -- This song is pure crap. I hated it when it came out and I don't know why it was so popular in the first place.

5. Backstreet Boys - Drowning -- I used to love this song when I was in Berkeley. But now, oh no, I can't stand it. Man, if you are a guy and whining this much, don't write a song...just do us all a favor and commit suicide.

6. Lou Bega - Mambo #5 -- I can't really say why I hate this song...I just do.

7. Michael Jackson - Black or White -- Don't get me started on this one. It's stupid.

8. Alicia Keys - Fallin' -- It's so freakin' annoying and whiny, I hate whiny.

9. Seal - Kiss By A Rose -- I think the reason I hate this song is because I can't stand the sound of Seal's voice. To me, it sounds like nails on a chalkboard...yeah, it's just that bad.

10. Gwen Stefani - Holla Back Girl -- This song is nothing more than a cheerleading prep rally gone wrong. It's not even a song.

And the list goes on and on and on...I'm sure right after I click the "Publish" button, I'll think of 100 more. But I'll stick with these ten. Can't go wrong.

Illegal Immigration Debate & May 1

Illegal Immigration? What is that? Has anyone heard anything about some kind of debate over illegal immigration? Like, it all of a sudden became this huge issue or something? Yeah, neither had I. But when I recently came out of my cave, I saw a story on CNN about how illegal immigrants were planning a boycott of U.S. businesses for May 1 as a way of displaying their purchasing power. The tagline for the effort: "Nothing Gringo on May 1." A couple of points:

Doesn't it feel divisive to not only essentially threaten the very people you want to win over, but to call them a racial slur in the process? What if a bunch of Americans went into Mexico and wanted to stay, and in order to win public support we marched through their streets, waving American flags and calling for a "Boycott the [Insert Mexican Slur Here] Day"? Would that ever be condoned or celebrated? How is this in any way constructive? Answer: it isn't.

Three words: Cinco de Mayo! Why not hold the boycott on the day of Mexican independence, if you were planning it for that time frame anyway? Isn't that a no-brainer? That's like Christians holding a "Rally for the Birth of Jesus" on December 21. Who's running the show over there? Answer: no one knows.

Giants are back in town

OK March is over and April is here. Which means...the Giants are back in town!

Yesterday the Giants won their home opener, and tonight is their first night game. I will be in attendance and hopefully the Giants will bring home a winner. Plus, I have to show Barry some love. I mean, seriously, the guy gets no respect.
