Sex And The City

There’s this movie coming out tomorrow apparently called “Sex and the City”…anyone ever heard of it?

Seriously, I’m not much of a “Sex and the City” fan…well, to tell you the truth, I’m not much of a movie buff, in general. But I, of course, am vaguely familiar with the show and all the hype surrounding the “Sex and the City” movie release tomorrow. I mean, you’d have to be living under a rock to not know that the movie is generating all kinds of talk.

I have plans to see it tomorrow night…and hope that the movie is as good as everyone says it should be. Well, honestly, I hope that the movie is good enough to stand on its own and not be too dependent on its tv history. Since I wasn’t a loyal follower of the tv show, I’m not going to know the difference either way. But I guess, I’ll have more to say on this topic after tomorrow night and we can all compare notes…

Sunburn

After spending the entire weekend out in the sun, I’m finding that the consequences to not protecting myself with enough sunscreen can have painful effects…very, very painful effects. Right now I am sitting at my desk trying not to move too much for fear of upsetting my sensitive skin and irritating my sunburn.

On Saturday, I was tabling at an outdoor event for most of the day. On Sunday, I was sitting in the sun for most of the Giants game (before they went and lost it and I had to leave before I got too upset, but that’s another story). For both events, I did my best to take precautions against the sun; I applied sunscreen to myself before I left my house, I wore a hat and didn’t show unnecessary amounts of skin, and did my best not to directly face the sun for a long period of time.

So let me ask you…how did I end up with the left side of my face burned? And I’m not just talking about the sunburn on my face, but my left ear is beat red and downright painful. I’m trying to be an adult about this, but…my ear really hurts. I have received my share of sunburns (and some of them have been really bad) and the sunburn on my ear is not the most painful or inconvenient one that I have ever experienced by a long shot, but I still need to complain. And to make matters worse, I have phone calls to make and my left ear is my “phone ear”…I’m in so much pain right now.

So if you need to reach me during the next few weeks, have some sympathy and contact me via email...that'd be much appreciated.

Summer Is Here

So is it hot outside or is it just me? I know the weather forecasters warned that it was going to be hot during the next few days, but man, it is really hot outside. I walk outside and am engulfed in a suffocating heat cloud that seems to follow me everywhere I go.

I’ve lived in San Francisco my entire life, and the great thing about living in the Bay Area is the spectrum of weather during any given day. It’s great that you can travel roughly 20 miles to a different location and the temperature and atmosphere is completely different from where you started. That’s what I love about living here. If I get sick of the fog and breeze at my house, I travel about ten minutes inland and am surrounded by the bright sunshine.

But today, oh goodness, has anyone been outside lately? It is downright stifling. Usually the Bay Area (San Francisco, specifically) has a very narrow range of temperatures that are deemed “acceptable” and “uncomplainable”…roughly somewhere between 55 degrees and 70 degrees. Anything that doesn’t fall in that range will either get people complaining about it being too hot or too cold. Today definitely falls into the “too hot” category. Even at my house, where temperatures don't rise too high...it was surprisingly warm early this morning.

So I plan to enjoy the hot summer Bay Area weather…knowing the patterns around here…it won’t stay too nice for very long.

We're In May

Can you believe that we are in May already? It just seems like New Years Eve was just yesterday…where does all the time go? I know, I know, I sound like an old person…remembering the old days with fond memories and blowing through today with nothing but stories and criticism. I hate that…c'est la vie.

Well, seriously, when you think about it, time really does go by super fast when you are having fun, doesn’t it? I mean, remember when you were a kid and you couldn’t wait for summer vacation, winter break, or your birthday…? Time seemed to move so slow back then because it would take forever before another event or holiday would come. But now, as an adult, time moves so fast...vacations go by in the blink of an eye, things change faster than you can keep up with, and before you know it, another year is over and you are one step closer to death.

I don’t know where I’m getting all this craziness from right now…I’m just babbling.
