Weather and Attire

I had to attend a seminar in San Jose today. Typically, seminar attire equates to business “formal” attire, as opposed to just “business” casual…right? Well unfortunately for me today, walking around San Jose was like walking around an overheated oven.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I love having a reason to dress up and put my suits to good use, but when it’s like a million degrees outside, wearing a suit is just downright torture. I know I’m letting my wimpy “Bay Area nativeness” show, but my goodness, it was hot today...downright stifling in San Jose.

So as much as I love having the opportunity to show off my suits, I think there should be some unwritten code of conduct against wearing “formal” attire when it is unbearably hot outside. I mean, I’m not saying you can’t look professional when the weather is hot, but do you really need to wear a suit? Seriously...

Since I’m throwing in my two cents about attire as it relates to hot weather, let’s also do away with panty hose too. Who wears those anyway? Maybe people from the middle ages, but now…let’s all just agree that wearing panty hose (especially in hot weather) sucks.

OK those are my thoughts for today.

Democratic Presidential Primary

I was watching the late night news yesterday after the polls closed and feel the need to vent my frustration from the amount of crap that stupid people feel the need to spout.

Every news station was covering the democratic primary election last night. With the heated race between Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama, it was not a surprise. Reporters were out and about asking Clinton and Obama supporters about where they would throw their support now that the Democratic Party had confirmed their nominee for president. Of course, Obama supporters were very happy and had nothing but good things to say about Obama and remained hopeful about his chances against John McCain. On the other hand, disgruntled Clinton supporters had no problem expressing their anger that Clinton wouldn’t get the nomination. There were quite a number of people interviewed who said that they were lifelong Democrats, but were so disappointed that Clinton didn’t get the nomination that they were just going to vote for McCain. What???

Hello, stupid people!!! Voting for the antithesis of your candidate does not make things better!!! Now, well-educated voters can understand this concept, but for stupid people, this may be a concept lost to them. So let me just make things easier for all you stupid people out there, if you are going to make a stupid decision…please don’t vote. It’s better for you not to vote.

Don’t listen to the Vote or Die campaign…in your case, choose die.

Sex And The City Review

It’s been a long time since I’ve been willing to brave a crowd to watch a movie on opening night, but I made an exception for “Sex and the City” last Friday night. And let me tell you, it was totally worth it. I mean, between having to battle a sea of well-dressed middle-aged women and rowdy sex-crazed young women, it was a trial trying to control the sarcastic comments that would come to mind and the reflexive eye rolling motions that seemed to take over my system.

I mentioned in my last posting that I wasn’t an avid fan of “Sex and the City” when it was on HBO, but that didn’t stop me from wanting to watch the movie. I was a little uncertain about how well the movie was going to be, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was so good. This may come as a surprise to some people, but I am a big fan of romantic comedy movies…better known as “girly” movies. “Sex and the City”, in case any of you didn’t know, is the epitome of a girly movie.

In order to not spoil the movie for those of you who haven’t seen it, let’s just say that there were plenty of moments to keep everyone happy. There were some super funny moments…specifically the most sexual dog I’ve ever seen. There were some super cute moments…the most prominent that comes to mind is the little vocabulary gifted Asian girl. And, of course, there were some super romantic moments…moments that made me just sigh with a feeling of great contentment and satisfaction.

So overall, it was a great movie…perfect for girly bonding sessions and romantic dates.
