Michael Jackson

Wow…so Michael Jackson died today…isn’t that crazy? Like everyone else, I was shocked when I heard the news.

I was at work and it was the talk of the afternoon…the hustle and bustle of the office seemed to stand still for a second as everyone started talking about Michael Jackson and trying to figure out what happened and how he died. People were glued to their computers and yelling across the cubicles with any new information that could be found. And at this evening’s happy hour, we jammed to some old school Michael Jackson songs. It was kinda sad. Each song brought back some sort of memory and I can’t help but admit that I was somewhat moved (as hard as that it is to believe). I mean, his antics over the past few years have been quite crazy, but nonetheless, I (along with everyone else) grew up listening to his music and he’s such a cultural icon that it’s crazy to think he died so young and so suddenly.

In my mini tribute to Michael Jackson, here are some of my favorite songs (in no particular order):

Billie Jean

Heal The World

I’ll Be There

A Monday Complaint

So I have a complaint that I need to get off my chest and air to the general public. With me being super busy, somewhat sleep deprived from a hectic weekend, and mildly cranky, this may not necessarily be an issue that would typically bother me…but hey, it bothers me now, so here we go.

There is nothing I find more frustrating over the course of a day than being interrupted during a conversation (this frustrating item frequently rotates based on my mood…fyi). Over the weekend, and at random meetings and functions this week, I found myself in mid-sentence when talking to someone and then being interrupted. It was totally annoying. When answering a question, elaborating on a point, or just plain talking about a random subject…when is it appropriate to interrupt someone, mid-sentence, for clarification or to add an additional comment to the discussion? I can’t answer that, but what I do know is that when I’m interrupted in mid-sentence, I’m not happy. I mean, seriously, when I’m talking and I’m, literally, in the middle of a sentence…that’s not an invitation to anyone to just start talking.

Another form of interruption that I find totally irritating is when I’m talking to and/or meeting with someone and then we get interrupted. I mean, we are all important in our own right and have things that we can bring to every conversation, but when people are already in an established setting or meeting, it is not polite to interrupt without being invited. Now, I’m sure this is only a complaint that I have during the course of my work day, but it is still really annoying. And I don’t think I’m asking too much, right?

After being interrupted, my first inclination is to forget the whole conversation entirely. It just seems that if I’m interrupted, all bets are off and I am under no obligation to continue the conversation. OK, well that may be a bit harsh…but damnit it’s so frustrating to be interrupted.

OK I’ve complained enough for now…you all get my point. Happy Monday!

So Tired

After spending a long weekend in Vegas, I’m feeling the effects of staying out too late and having way too much fun. Getting up this morning and returning to work was quite difficult and has been a real hardship. Plus, it definitely isn’t easy to switch the brain from vacation mode to work mode. But…I’m working on it and it’s slowly coming back to me. It would’ve made things better if I had a vacation to recover from my Vegas vacation…because I could really use that extra time to recuperate right about now. But alas, here I am.

The weeks and months leading up to Vegas were mildly torturous for me. It sure seemed like I waited for Vegas for what seemed like forever and by the time Friday rolled around, I was happy that it was finally time to go. I spent the last few months (the past two months for sure) anticipating the trip and thinking about all the cool things that I was going to be able to do. I had my bags packed a good two weeks before I left and was just chomping at the bit ready to head to the airport on Friday morning. I mean, I had my restaurant reservations made, my show tickets booked, and even my outfits picked out long before I headed to Vegas…but I guess that’s not a surprise to anyone. I was ready to go and there was no way I was missing my trip to Vegas.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to Vegas, but I was pleasantly surprised that I had such a good time. I had some good food, saw some awesome shows, and enjoyed some late-night excitement…and hell, just enjoyed getting away to recharge my batteries for a little while. I was in Vegas for about four days, which was plenty of time to accomplish the things that I had set out to do/see on this visit, but it did lead me to things that I would like to experience the next time I find myself in Vegas. While walking the strip, I saw plenty of restaurants that I would’ve liked to try, a few shows that I wouldn’t mind seeing, and some hotels that I didn’t explore as thoroughly as I would’ve liked. So I guess I’ll just have to schedule another trip to Vegas and tackle those things at some later point.

With all that said, I could really use some time to rest after all the excitement I had over the weekend. As you can imagine, I’m going to use my upcoming long weekend to rest and relax. Hopefully, I’ll be as good as new next week.

Where's The Weekend

After a somewhat long and tiresome week, I’m chopping at the bit to get this weekend started. Granted, the weather isn’t suppose to be anything spectacular, but hey, it’s still a weekend and I don’t plan to let it get me down.

The weekend can’t come soon enough for me (I find myself saying that a lot lately). Oh man, this week has been brutal. Between being crazy busy at work and battling a stomach virus, this week was definitely not a walk in the park. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve been feeling massive amounts of frustrations…I know I blogged about that already…so moving right along.

Random note, I was talking to one of my oldest friends this week and realized that it really has been 10 years since I graduated from high school…can you count it…10 years. Holy crap…it seems like a long time ago but not that long ago at the same time. I loved high school. I had such an awesome time. I even remember the annoying twerp that I used to be. Haha. But yeah, 10 years…that’s crazy.
