Tahoe

This weekend went by way too fast. And yes, I know I always say that after a weekend away, but this time I really mean it. Why? Because this week is gonna be a killer.

But I spent this past weekend away in Tahoe...sans electronics and ties to the rest of the world. How come I don't do more vacations like that? Beats the heck out of me. But it definitely makes for a super nice and relaxing vacation. Tahoe is really nice in the summertime. I spent the days out enjoying nature and the nights stuffing my face with food. Trust me, it was fun times. As I think back on the weekend, I don't know where all the time went. I definitely could've used another couple more days...weeks...to enjoy more vacation time.

But, alas, I wish I could say that I have returned refreshed and recharged...but no, I can't say that. So I guess I'll just have to relive the moments through my pictures. Check 'em out.

Almost Here

I can't wait for this weekend. It seems like I've been waiting for it for weeks. And now, it's so close I can almost taste it. These last couple of weeks have just been so busy. I mean, my weekends are usually pretty packed with stuff but, for some reason, the last couple weekends have just seemed extra extra busy. It's weird...and mildly exhausting. So I'm excited to get away this weekend because it's gonna be all about relaxation.

Speaking of busy, I'm looking at my calendar right now and realize that I have a bunch of stuff coming up that I've totally forgotten about. Ugh. I have a couple bbqs/picnics around the corner (can't wait for those flag football/ultimate frisbee/volleyball games to start), I have my race coming up (...little nervous about that), I have two baby showers to attend (lovely) and I have a tennis competition looming in the distance. Man, this summer is going to be over before I know it. Crazy, huh?

Anyway, I don't want to think about anything past this weekend. Monday will be here way too soon.

The Verdict

Major League Baseball handed down penalties from Friday night's Phillies-Giants brawl. The only player suspended was Phillies' Shane Victorino. San Francisco Giants' Ramon Ramirez and Eli Whiteside and Phillies' Placido Polanco escape suspensions and are only required to pay "an undisclosed fine" for their part in the fight. I was asked if I thought the verdict was fair.

Heck yeah it's fair. If you watch the video, Victorino is the only fool who continues to fight. Sure, everyone is pushing and shoving, however, Victorino, and his dumbass, pushes the ump (a big no-no in any sport), pushes aside his coach (another big no-no) and jumps right back into the brawl (really...I mean, really?!?!). Psh. Fuck that.

Stupid Phillies

Dodgers? What about the Dodgers? Giants fans now hate the Phillies...especially after Friday night's game. Check out a video of the brawl:

You know what I say to that? Fuck the Phillies. And hey, the Phillies can take all the regular season games they want, the postseason games are worth more anyway. Oh, and one more thing, whose got the ring now?!?!? Hint...it's not the Phillies.

Garlic

After spending last Friday immersing myself in the Gilroy Garlic Festival...I think I've finally purged myself of the garlic stench that comes with inhaling all the garlicy goodness. Oh it was such a joyous affair. Garlic is an amazing ingredient that accompanies all foods...check out my pictures below:

Garlic Kettle Korn.

Garlic Ice Cream.

Me enjoying the garlic ice cream.

Garlic Shaved Ice.

Washing it all down...

Evils of Cancer

Got some bad news over the weekend...Nanette passed away from cancer. She was my grandma's brother's son's daughter...does that make sense? She was my...second cousin...I think...? Anyway, yeah, it sucks and it's really sad to know that she's gone. Cancer is such a bitch.

Anyway...it got me thinking...if you were presented with a crystal ball and had the option of finding out what your future holds...would you take a look? I mean, looking into the crystal ball wouldn't give you the chance to change what you saw...or alter your choices to change your future...but would you still want to look? It's a tough question, because there's a part of me that would want to look but there's also a part of me that wouldn't. I mean, sure, I think taking a look would alleviate the stress and worry of everyday life (you know, why would I worry about the mundane details that I encounter on a day to day basis if I knew what the bigger picture entailed), but...looking into the ball and knowing what my future holds takes away all the mysteries, surprises and hopes needed to make living life worthwhile. But I don't know...it's a tough question.

I don't really have a purpose for this post...just the fact that cancer is evil.
