Gun Range

Like I mentioned in my previous post, it’s much easier for me to blog when I have pictures to share. Well…today must be my lucky day because I have pictures to share! This past weekend was my very first time at an outdoor gun range and short of becoming a certified NRA member and running out and buying myself a pistol…I have to say, I had a really good time. And, yes people, I did change my profile picture.

Now don’t get me wrong, I know that guns are not a toy and not to be taken lightly…but there is something really cool and badass about being able to go out and shoot something. And considering it was my first time at the range, I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did…but it actually was really awesome. It took awhile for it to grow on me, but after a few warm-up rounds at the pistol lanes, we headed to the 100 yard rifle lanes…and that’s when the fun really started. You can’t help but fall in love with those big badass guns.

But yes, to tell you the truth, I wasn’t much of a fan of the pistols and semi-automatics…but the AR series of guns are a totally different story. I have to say that those things are very cool and super fun to shoot. After the targets were set up, I got ready to shoot but wasn’t really expecting to be able to hit anything. I mean, I could barely keep my bullets anywhere near the targets at the pistol lanes, so I expected to suck super bad at the rifle lanes. However, I guess if you have a good scope on your gun and actually take the time to line up your shot properly, you can have a ton of fun and actually hit something. And as you can tell from my target sheet, I was actually able to make some descent shots. And I did have a ton of fun.

Getting Lazy

I’ve been busy and neglecting my blog. Must remedy that now and post something for this week. There have been times when I would blog every day and other times when I’d be lucky if I could blog once a week. Considering this is my only blog post for this week…I’m sure I don’t need to tell you what kinda time I find myself in. :-/

I always find it much easier to post when I have pictures and/or some thoughts to share. Otherwise, I’m scratching my head at topics I want to publicly talk about…like now. Should I talk about my super cool plans for the next couple of weeks, the party at my place a couple nights ago or the drama from the past couple of weeks? What to say…what to say?

Ah fuck it. What have you guys been up to?

5 Year Recognition Speech

I would like to thank the entire Communications and Outreach staff for making work fun and enjoyable.

I would also like to thank Jack and Rich for hiring me 5 years ago.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work with everyone at the District. It has been a true pleasure.

I look forward to the next 5 years.

Congrats Carissa

The weekend was super busy and went by really fast. I feel like I blinked and the whole freakin' weekend flew by. Why do my weekends always feel too short?!?! Haha. Answer me that. 

My super cool cousin graduated a few weeks ago and has since moved back to Sacramento. There hasn’t been time to truly celebrate her big milestone until now so...we spent Saturday in Sacramento celebrating her graduation. We met up with the family and stuffed our faces with food and cake. Any excuse to get together and hang out…is always a good one in my book. I took tons of pictures, but limited myself to only posting a few. Feel free to check out the pictures.

Vacation Coma

I have returned from spending two weeks cruising around Macau and Hong Kong...and now I'm tired. I've been spending the last couple days desperately fighting off any forms of jet lag left in my system and trying to reorient myself to the Bay Area. It would be much easier if I had returned to a schedule that was less busy but eh...story of my life. 

Anyway, it’s been a number of years since I’ve been to Hong Kong and I definitely made the most out of my trip. I took the time, and the opportunity, to soak up the sights and enjoy the food…and had a great time. As hot and humid as it was in Hong Kong, I still made the most of my trip and saw all the big sights on my list. I enjoyed the City, I did some hiking and I lounged around on the beaches. It was super fun times. As for food, well...let's just say there wasn't much I didn't eat. Not only did I stuff my face with all the local grub...but I was able to add a few more animals to my list...pigeon and frog. Yummy. And since being back...I have been trying to hit up all of my local places to appease my cravings. I've enjoyed a burrito, a slice of pizza and a nice deli sandwich...next on my list is a nice big fat burger and a pound of sushi. Haha.
