Happy Turkey Day

Amidst all the family good cheer and anticipation of the upcoming holiday season, I hope everyone is enjoying a very Happy Thanksgiving.

To me, Thanksgiving is the best time of year. It’s a celebration that includes food and football. I mean really, it’s the greatest reason to throw a celebration…well next to the Super Bowl, of course. :) No seriously, Thanksgiving consists of food that I don’t see too often at my dinner table. Turkey, I mean really, who eats turkey for dinner when you can have chicken…or steak…or pork ribs…yum. As “bad” of a time of year it is for turkeys, it’s really the only time that they get any attention at all. If turkey wasn’t the main dish of Thanksgiving, a turkey would be like…pigeons…over populating the earth and the scum of the poultry family…but I digress. Next is stuffing. I love stuffing! And on a regular basis, who would eat stuffing when you could eat rice. I mean really, there is just no contest. But once a year, when I have to smell the turkey roasting in the oven and the stuffing simmering on the stove, I’ll eat anything and learn to enjoy it. As for pumpkin pie, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes, I could do without it. But Thanksgiving is about the abundant amounts of food and days spent eating leftovers and dreading the next Thanksgiving where you swear not to overeat…But just knowing that Thanksgiving makes it acceptable, tradition even, to watch football and eat all day, is reason enough to enjoy the celebration all the more. :)

I know it’s tradition to go around and say what you are thankful for right before you eat pounds of food that you end up complaining about tomorrow…but again, I digress…so I will begin by saying that I am thankful for good health and happiness. I guess that’s a little boring and I am sure that’s what everyone says (its like being in a beauty pageant and saying you wish for world peace…I mean really, come on, your wish is to win this competition, you could care less about world peace…but whatever).

Anyway, as this year draws to a close, I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and good holiday cheer.
