Rambling

It has become harder and harder to come up with topics to blog about these days. I have been racking my brain trying to think up something that I wouldn’t mind sharing with the entire universe…and you know what? It’s a lot harder than it used to be. I’ve been sitting here for the past like…30 minutes trying to put a blog together …and I still got nothing.

So let’s see, what can I talk about? Hm…you know, I enjoy my alone and quiet time a lot more than I did before. There is something to be said about just spending time by myself and just hanging out and relaxing. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love going out and having a good time with my peeps. But you know…spending time by myself is something that I never used to appreciate as much as I do now. I love just kicking back and watching one of my favorite movies, or listening to music while surfing the internet, or just laying in bed reading my magazines. It’s nice...although I do miss having someone to talk to... ;-)

I guess with that said…and me not having much more to say…I’ll just leave it at that for now…

Unprepared

Chinese New Year is this Monday…how did that happen? Where did the time go…and how are we celebrating Chinese New Year already?

Just as the holidays and the end of the year kinda snuck up on me last year, Chinese New Year is no different. It seems that I blinked a little too long when I returned from NYC and found that it’s time to celebrate another holiday…absolutely lovely. When the Lunar Calendar cooperates and Chinese New Year is in February…there is, at least, a little breather between the holidays and New Year festivities before having to roll into Chinese New Year mode. Well apparently I can’t enjoy that luxury this year.

Overall, there is just something about the beginning of the year that just isn’t as exciting as end of the year festivities. I mean, aside from Chinese New Year…and well, my birthday, look at the holidays/celebrations to choose from during the beginning of the year…Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Valentine’s Day,…and all the Presidents’ Day….oh joy. Don’t get me wrong, these are all great times to enjoy a nice long weekend and some time away from work…but in terms of just getting excited about the holidays themselves…eh, it really doesn’t do anything for me. On the flip side, let’s compare that to the end of the year…Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve…yeah, there’s no real contest there.

Anyway, back to Chinese New Year. So Monday is the big day…and I’m totally not prepared. I don’t have any new clothes ready to wear this Monday, I haven’t really done too much cleaning, and I don’t have that much family time planned. If you are unfamiliar with Chinese New Year traditions…the fact that I can’t check any of these off of my list as of yet…is a big no-no.

On that note, here’s to a relaxing and productive weekend.

Big Mistake

So I broke my biggest work-related cardinal rule today…I came into work while I’m sick. Yeah, I know, I know, get ready to crucify me…it truly is a terrible sin. For as much I hate it when people come into the office sick, I broke my own rule…although, let me just say, that I wouldn’t have gotten sick if people in my office had stayed home when they got sick…so I’m sorry, but it’s not my fault. Ha! Whatever.

So anyway, yeah, I’m a little under the weather today. Not to say that I feel all that terrible…because to tell you the truth, I feel fine. It’s just my deep frog voice, slight dying man’s cough, and lump in my throat that makes this seem a lot worse than it actually is. Hopefully, nothing that a good night’s sleep couldn’t cure.

This week has been quite busy for me. Since I have been out of the office for a few weeks during the holidays, I am still in the process of trying to catch myself back up to speed. And, of course, with this Friday and Monday off, I have this unexplainable need to get things done and off my desk before things start to pile back up again. As for me, honestly, I hardly ever get sick…but when I do…oh man, it’s horrible because it totally knocks me on my ass. I’m hoping that this is not one of those times because…well hey, who likes being sick?

*cough*…ok that’s it for me...I gotta go now.

Happy New Year

After spending close to three weeks in NYC, I’m back in town…I know everyone is super happy and trying to contain their excitement over my return. Ha!

My trip to NYC was a blast. I got a chance to really take in the sights, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy a true winter on the East Coast. I’ve been to the East Coast a number of times before, but never during the winter, during the holidays, or for such an extended amount of time. So I really enjoyed the experience and had an awesome time.

I enjoyed the traditional touristy New York holiday experience…I saw the huge Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center, went ice skating in Central Park, caught a Knicks and a Rangers game at the Garden, enjoyed some time at the Met, and of course, enjoyed New Year’s Eve in Times Square. Oh and I was also blessed with a snow flurry for a couple days, which added to my NYC winter experience. So overall, I had a great time.

Now I return to the daily grind and look forward to my next vacation. So here’s to 2009 and all the good things that a new year can bring.
