Church
Leaving my own feelings and personal comments about the church aside, it was a very interesting experience. The service wasn’t as long as I had feared it would be and I did recognize some familiar faces (since a few of my brother’s fellow churchgoers are his friends from high school), but in the end…it was still church. Church may never be something that works for me, but I’m hoping that it will work for my brother.
All of this did lead me to ask my parents what their feelings are about the church, since my parents aren’t big churchgoers and I don’t think I’ve ever asked before…and they said that they always felt that it should be a personal choice (meaning, they didn’t want to make the choice for us…ah…gotta love my parents) and a choice that we should take very seriously. So I was never baptized, forced to follow any religion, or have my mind made up for me just because my parents wanted things a certain way and believed that I should to…which I will be forever grateful for.
…without touching on topics that might be too personal or offensive for people…I’m going to leave it at that for right now. Most of you probably already know my thoughts on this matter so I think I’m done.
