Need More Weekend
With Chinese New Year only a week and a half away...I realize I still have a whole bunch of stuff I haven't done yet. I still gotta clean my room and my cube (gotta get rid of last year's bad luck and dirt), I gotta go buy something new and bright to wear (the gods would probably appreciate that), and I gotta put up my Chinese good luck charms (trust me, I need all the good luck I can get this year). It’s time for a fresh start.
Growing up in my family, Chinese New Year was always a very important time of year. I'm sure Chinese New Year is celebrated differently among Chinese people who live in the US and it's definitely not as big as in China, but to be honest, I'm glad that my parents...and my mom's side of the my family, specifically...take Chinese New Year pretty seriously. They are big sticklers for Chinese traditions and it definitely gives me some culture and an understanding of where I come from. As a kid, I never really appreciated all the traditions and the culture behind the New Year...but now, as I've gotten older, I definitely have a greater appreciation for it and try to embrace it a lot more...and to be honest, am thankful for the experience and the memories. Although, I’m not gonna lie and say that good food and red envelopes aren’t a big part of that…hehe.
Anyway...where'd my weekend go?
