Finally

I’m gonna miss the Giants season opener and opening weekend. Drat. But hey, I guess I should just be happy that baseball season is almost here. And despite all the freakin’ newfound Giants fans increasing demand and jacking up ticket prices…at least I got tickets to a couple key games that I can look forward to. Wahoo! I can’t wait for that. You gotta love Giants baseball.

I’m also gonna miss the end of March Madness. Darn it. Well, not that it really matters since everyone is already out of the tourney. I mean, really, Butler and VCU…who would’ve thought they’d amount to anything and have the power to kill everyone’s bracket? However, can you believe that I was the only one in my pool who picked a team in the Final 4? It’s crazy because now I get to reap the benefits…picking UConn won me $350!!! Double wahoo!! Nice, huh?!? Damn, I love March Madness!!!

But anyway, more importantly, vacation time is finally here. Triple wahoo!!! I'll be on hiatus...but back before you know it. I'll catch up with everyone upon my return. :-)

Big Birthday

I'm not the only one with a big birthday in March. My dad's big 6-0 b-day was this past weekend...well, Friday to be exact. We enjoyed a nice family dinner on Friday night and then threw him a "surprise" dinner party on Saturday night. I'm pretty sure he knew about the surprise party...since the "sparrow landed" a couple times during the day. Haha. Shesh. :-/

But yeah, despite some random hiccups, I enjoyed a fun filled family weekend (although, good thing I was able to hit the spa on Sunday with some friends...hehe). So overall, definitely can't complain. :-)

Me, my bro and the cousins.

Me and the Daddio.

The Point

I just gotta say...I place turkey burgers in the same category as de-caffeinated coffee, light mayonnaise and non-alcoholic beer...what's the freakin' point?!?!

Comments

I have a bunch of random things to throw down in writing...none of which are deserving of an exclusive post, but just some things that I need to comment on...so here we go...

I had a pretty good weekend. I got a fair amount of stuff done, which is always nice after a long, crazy week. And, hey, being able to kick back, hang out and relax is super cool. I’m glad I found some time to watch a few of the March Madness games on Saturday...speaking of the Madness...

I'm just going to ignore the fact that Butler knocked out Pitt, Louieville lost to Morehead State (really, Morehead State) and VCU took out Georgetown and Purdue!!! I mean, what the heck was up with that? Sure, I have other losses that I'm trying to come to terms with, but those are my big ones. Ugh. But I guess I should just be happy that I still have over half of my Elite 8 teams and all my Final 4 teams still alive and kicking, right? Ugh. Such is the excitement and heartache that comes with March Madness. Anyway, moving right along...

As for some bad news, last week a person I know got robbed. Now, it's not that I'm unsympathetic to him and the horrible incident, because, of course, I am. However, he is one of those people who shares his entire life on Facebook and Twitter...and has a billion freakin’ friends. Now, individually, these two things shouldn’t lead to a big problem, however, together…it’s just a recipe for disaster. I mean, when you have a billion friends and followers and you insist on posting every couple minutes and updating your status just as often…then it can lead to problems. Imagine when he decided to announce to the world, and start a countdown (via Facebook and Twitter), of his week-long trip to Hawaii...what do you think happened? Yup, that's right, his house was robbed. I know, I know, it still sucks. But c'mon people, let's all be smart about these kinda things. Shesh.

Anyway, I finally (I know, finally) got a chance to upload, organize and caption my pictures from my trip to Scottsdale last weekend (pictures posted). So feel free to check ‘em out. :-)

Soon

It's coming soon. I will get my vacation pictures up really soon...well, I hope.

Anyway, this has been an absolutely crazy week. Time has just gotten away from me and I'm slowly losing my mind and going nuts.

But hey...TGIF!!!

The Madness Begins

It's that time of year again and March Madness is here.

As much as I hate to admit it, I'm worried. It took me longer than usual to complete the bracket and well...I took some chances and I'm praying for some upsets. It was tough this year and I'm not gonna lie...I did flip-flop a lot between some of my picks...Notre Dame or Kansas, Wisconsin or Pitt, St. Johns or Florida...oh the dilemma!!!

And this year, as an added hurdle, I'm trying to stay within only sending two #1s to the Final 4. I didn't think it was going to be that hard, but it really is. But I guess when you have certain people (you know who you are...and I'm glaring at you)...who fill out brackets and only send #1s to the Final 4 every freakin' year...you just kill it for the rest of us!!! Damn you.

But anyways, qualifiers start tomorrow...so my bracket is complete and final. There's no going back now...crap. Let the nail biting begin.

Life After 30

There is life after 30...why? Because I'm officially 30...and I'm still alive. So wahoo for that. :-)

Now that the pressure is off, I can go back to having a good time and just enjoying life. Hallelujah!

When It Rains It Pours

You know, I never gave much thought to how (or more importantly when) bad things happen...but I've come to the conclusion that when it rains...it really does pour. When one thing starts spiraling out of control, everything else seems to kinda go along with it. It’s weird how that works. But hey, as daunting and overwhelming as it might seem, I refuse to take things lightly and vow to conquer and overcome. Sooo…let’s try to stay positive and focus on all the good things coming up that I can look forward to.

First, the madness is about to begin. March Madness is just around the corner…and I can’t wait for that. I mean, I didn’t do so bad last year (you know, meaning I didn’t get completely killed in the first round), and I’m anxiously awaiting the release of the bracket so I can get started on that. Even though I was never really a huge college basketball fan, well or basketball fan in general, I still love March Madness time. It’s a fun-filled, trash-talking (well, maybe it’s just me doing the trash talking...hehe), competition where you can know absolutely nothing about the game, have some lucky picks and just run away with the whole tournament. It makes for some fun times and some awesome games. So I can’t wait for that.

Second, Daylight Savings Time begins this weekend. Wahoo!!! Granted, we will be losing an hour of sleep, but hey, if it means more sunlight and longer days…I’ll take it. I mean, I know we’ll all be suffering those first couple days (well, maybe first couple weeks), trying to adjust to losing that precious hour of sleep, but we can all drag on together. I know that I’ve been having the hardest time getting enough sleep these last couple of weeks as it is, and now trying to imagine losing that hour….well, it’s not going to be easy. But hey, having those extra daylight hours will definitely be nice.

And lastly, I’m headed to Scottsdale for Giants’ Spring Training this weekend. Granted, it’s my dreaded birthday weekend and, of course, with the Giants being the World Series Champions, the crowds will be out in full force, so...this trip may have a couple downsides. I mean, I’ve heard Scottsdale is capitalizing on the crowds and prices for regular, pre-season items are now outrageously expensive (which again, is not a complete surprise, but still). Sooo…as much as there are parts of this vacation that I’m really, really, really not looking forward to…it’s still a vacation, nonetheless.

But anyway, I still stand by my claim…when it rains, it pours.

Comic

I was reading the Sunday comics yesterday and enjoyed a good laugh. I'm a fan of Foxtrot, Dilbert, Mutts, Peanuts and many, many others. But yesterday, I really enjoyed Pearls Before Swine; it has definitely been one of my long time favorites. I mean, you just gotta love Rat. Sooo...I just had to share it and included it below. What would life be like without the Sunday morning comics?

Grown Up

I’m a grown up. I mean, a mature woman of almost 30 years old…right? Hahaha...well, with my dirty mind, sometimes I wonder…because I was sitting in a meeting yesterday having the hardest time trying to keep it together.

I was sitting in a meeting with some local non-profits and some Silicon Valley employers discussing next quarter earnings. Well as part of the meeting, a South Bay business representative was in the process of giving a presentation on the company’s increasing profits and upcoming projections. There was a huge display map of the company’s general service areas along with all kinds of data regarding demographics, expenditures and profit margins. After explaining the corresponding information, the business representative said, "As you can see, things are looking really good for us. We're penetrating really well and consumers’ really seem to be receiving our products with no problem."

I lost it. I fell into a coughing fit to cover my laughter and had to leave the room to recover. I couldn't help myself. Ha. :)

Buddies

I often read or hear people talk about how good friends are hard to come by...and hearing that makes me really sad. Having good friends is such an important part of life.

Maybe I'm just lucky or can get along with a lot of people, but I can say with confidence that I have a lot of people in my life that I would call great friends. I am truly blessed and can proudly say that it's awesome to be me. I think love and friendships are crucial to good health, happiness and well being...and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I love you guys. :)

March

March is here and my dreaded birthday is just around the corner. It's going to be my big 3-0 this year, people...and I've come to the conclusion that it's coming for me whether I'm ready for it or not, so…I’m ready. Ugh…but 30...how can that be possible?!?! There's so much stuff I still haven't done, places I haven’t seen and life I still need to live. Man, I really gotta get on that. See, this is what happens when you get so caught up in the details of everyday life...you start to lose focus of the bigger picture and life just starts passing you by.

Anyway, there is a purpose to this post besides announcing to the world that I’m getting older. :-( For some reason, people seem to think that I have this big secret party planned to usher in my big 3-0…and they weren’t invited to come. Doesn’t that sound ridiculous? And I’m being totally serious. I mean, I’ve had, at least, seven people in the last week (four of them this past weekend) ask me why they weren’t invited to my birthday party...um, because I’m not having a birthday party, dorks!

So let me just say this for the record (and to ease anyone's insecurities), I am not (repeat, not) having a big birthday party or a clubbing bash of any sort (I mean, really, c'mon now, it's really not my style)...so please stop being mad that you weren't invited. Also, for those of you fools who want to throw me a party to help me celebrate...please don't. I will kill you. I mean, don't you worry, I will be celebrating...just in my own way...hehe. :-)

Ugh…but anyway, March...here we go.
