Weekend Recap

So I had a pretty kick ass weekend. Well ok...besides getting slightly wind and sunburned and the Giants and Sharks both losing (ugh!!!), I still had a blast.

My weekend started early (thank goodness). Last Thursday night I got some last minute tickets to the opening night gala party of the San Francisco Film Festival. And guess who I got to see?!?! Ewan McGregor!!! And oh my god is he a hottie!! I took pictures of him and, well, stalked him around the VIP lounge all night. It was fun times. Well, ok, maybe not for him. Haha. On Friday, we made a spur of the moment decision to head up to Tahoe and enjoy a few more runs down the mountain before the end of the season. The conditions weren't great...but considering it's the end of April, it wasn't terrible. I'm hoping my wind burn will go away soon. Saturday we hit up the Giants game and Burger Bar. It was my first game of the season and it would've been nice if the Giants could've pulled off a win for me. I have a slight sunburn to show for my troubles...and hoping it will also go away soon. However, after the game, we were able to go to Burger Bar and have a nice dinner before watching the Sharks lose...ugh.

Anyway, pictures are below...I'm too lazy to sort, upload and caption all of them...so enjoy!

Look at Ewan McGregor pretending he doesn't see me.

He's so dreamy.

Words With Friends

Beware world...I've discovered a secret place. A wonderful place full of happy games, merry things and endless amounts of fun. It's known as the App Store...and it's amazing. You may have you heard of it...? Haha.

OK as you know, I'm new to the iphone and all the new flashy stuff that accompanies it and the one place that I've been spending a lot of time exploring lately...is the App Store. It's just a whole new world to me. It's full of amazing games, plenty of time wasting activities and all sorts of life passing applications...it's truly mind blowing. I have been in the process of pimpin' out my phone with a whole bunch of cool free apps. Keyword...free. I have yet to pay for an app...but who knows, maybe that's because I have yet to find anything that I really can't live without. But so far, I'm up to ten apps and continuing the search for more.

Anyway, I'm a fan of Words with Friends. That was my first app on my phone and it's been really fun. Granted, I currently only have a couple games open...but the one thing that's really nice about Words with Friends is that it's interactive and mentally stimulating without being too time consuming and annoying. It really is fun times. Sooo...with that being said, who else wants to play? I need more practice.

Stupid Sharks

In retrospect, my weekend was good. It was way too short, but good, nonetheless. However, those fuckin' Sharks are just absolutely impossible and so annoying to watch during playoff times. Yes, it's going to be one of those posts...I give this an 'R' rating for language.

As most people know, the Sharks frequently make the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs doesn't seem to be their problem...it's what they do when they get there that I have issues with. I mean, who doesn't like going to playoff games? However, when the Sharks choke and suck it up...that's definitely something no one likes. And typically, the Sharks do find some way to fuck things up in the playoffs. Case and point...Saturday night's game at the Tank against the LA Kings (fuckin LA teams).

As excited as I was to be at game 2 of the playoffs on Saturday night, I think the Sharks forgot that it was actually a playoff game. They came out skating slow, not at all aggressive and play just looked so...sloppy. I mean, they couldn't convert anything and their shots on goal were just awful. The Kings played Saturday's game without their best player and still managed to shut out the Sharks 4-0. Ugh. It was torture. I mean, for as much as playoff tickets are going for...I hate paying to see my team get spanked. I want my freakin' money back!

Anyway...I wish I had some cool pictures to post from Saturday's game, but me and my dumbass totally forgot to charge my camera battery since returning from China last week...so my camera was useless to me at the game. But...I did manage to take a few shots from my smart phone...which came out ok. I still prefer my Canon PowerShot camera to my smart phone for pictures (it's just the best camera ever)...but hey, here ya go:

The crowd goes nuts.

Breathing

Man...this week has been such a killer. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised by this. I mean, whenever I get back from any vacation, I always feel completely slammed and overwhelmed. Not only is it just with work, but personally, just returning to the daily grind and having to catch up on all the things that I missed...it's such a drag.

But this week, has been torture. After returning from an almost 15 hour plane ride from China and having to deal with a mild case of jet lag (which I've never experienced before on any of my other trips) to a freakin' huge pile of emails and work...I had to turn around and head out of town again...this time for work. I mean, I hadn't even unpacked yet, much less, had time to do a (much needed) load of laundry...before I just had to grab my bag and head out again. Ugh.

But hey...the weekend is here and it's time to kick back and relax. Why? Because it's Sharks playoff time and we got tickets. Wahoo!

Go Sharks!

Super Fast

Wow...that's a new record. I did three big cities in under three days. Can you believe that? I'm pretty proud of myself. My pictures are all up and ready for viewing (Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai). Enjoy! :-)

With all the craziness going on this week, me trying to get back into the grove of things and still trying to deal with the mild jet lag I'm experiencing, this weekend can't come soon enough.

Back Home

I'm baaack.

Did anyone miss me? Well...did anyone even notice that I was gone? Haha...yeah, I didn't think so. I mean, I didn't even feel like I was gone. This vacation was waaay too short...by the time I got to China and started exploring, it felt like it was time to turn around and head home. Ugh. I already feel like I need another vacation. :-(

For the amount of stuff I wanted to see and for the time that it took to get there and back, this was probably the shortest vacation I've ever taken. I was in Beijing for three days, Xi'an for two days and Shanghai for another three days...three big cities all in about a week and a half. Crazy, huh? Granted, I hit all the main tourist spots while I was there, but I feel like there are sooo many things that I didn't get a chance to see, so I guess I need to make a trek back there at some point and make the time to soak it all in. As for everything else...well, I can't say that I'm all that excited about my return and getting back to the daily grind...well, I guess, because I'm not. If I could just stay on vacation forever, you know I would.

But OK back to my trip. Overall, I had a good time. I got to see a lot of cool stuff and, of course, I took a million pictures (it's definitely going to take me awhile to sort through all of them and get them posted), so I'll be working on that for awhile. It was hard to get really good pictures in China. Not only was the weather not so great in Shanghai (yeah, the air quality is just horrible...smog everywhere), but there are like...a billion people over there. Literally, a billion people. And for some reason, every time I went to take a picture, they'd chose that moment to walk around and get in my way. Who knew there were so many Chinese people everywhere? Shesh.

Oh yeah...and another thing...I gotta say, I'm sick of Chinese food. I don't think I've ever gone on vacation, eaten so much and then returned home with such an aversion to a specific kind of food before. I mean, I'm sick of looking at dumplings, I'm sick of smelling dim sum and I'm sick of eating rice. And after a 15 hour plane ride back to the States, and having endured 3 straight meals of airplane food, I'm sick of that too. I mean, my first meal upon landing was at In-N-Out to grab a good 'ole American burger. I know, I know, fast food...not my favorite, but seriously, eating nothing but rice, dim sum, dumplings...and other random Chinese cuisines for the past week and a half, is just too much for me...I need a break. It must be telling that I've been having dreams of indulging in burgers, tamales, spaghetti, nachos, lasagna, burritos...ooooh.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to...what's up with everyone else? If anyone wants to grab some grub (and doesn't want Chinese food)...count me in and let's catch up. :-)
