Back Home
Did anyone miss me? Well...did anyone even notice that I was gone? Haha...yeah, I didn't think so. I mean, I didn't even feel like I was gone. This vacation was waaay too short...by the time I got to China and started exploring, it felt like it was time to turn around and head home. Ugh. I already feel like I need another vacation. :-(
For the amount of stuff I wanted to see and for the time that it took to get there and back, this was probably the shortest vacation I've ever taken. I was in Beijing for three days, Xi'an for two days and Shanghai for another three days...three big cities all in about a week and a half. Crazy, huh? Granted, I hit all the main tourist spots while I was there, but I feel like there are sooo many things that I didn't get a chance to see, so I guess I need to make a trek back there at some point and make the time to soak it all in. As for everything else...well, I can't say that I'm all that excited about my return and getting back to the daily grind...well, I guess, because I'm not. If I could just stay on vacation forever, you know I would.
But OK back to my trip. Overall, I had a good time. I got to see a lot of cool stuff and, of course, I took a million pictures (it's definitely going to take me awhile to sort through all of them and get them posted), so I'll be working on that for awhile. It was hard to get really good pictures in China. Not only was the weather not so great in Shanghai (yeah, the air quality is just horrible...smog everywhere), but there are like...a billion people over there. Literally, a billion people. And for some reason, every time I went to take a picture, they'd chose that moment to walk around and get in my way. Who knew there were so many Chinese people everywhere? Shesh.
Oh yeah...and another thing...I gotta say, I'm sick of Chinese food. I don't think I've ever gone on vacation, eaten so much and then returned home with such an aversion to a specific kind of food before. I mean, I'm sick of looking at dumplings, I'm sick of smelling dim sum and I'm sick of eating rice. And after a 15 hour plane ride back to the States, and having endured 3 straight meals of airplane food, I'm sick of that too. I mean, my first meal upon landing was at In-N-Out to grab a good 'ole American burger. I know, I know, fast food...not my favorite, but seriously, eating nothing but rice, dim sum, dumplings...and other random Chinese cuisines for the past week and a half, is just too much for me...I need a break. It must be telling that I've been having dreams of indulging in burgers, tamales, spaghetti, nachos, lasagna, burritos...ooooh.
Anyway, that's what I've been up to...what's up with everyone else? If anyone wants to grab some grub (and doesn't want Chinese food)...count me in and let's catch up. :-)
