Hiatus

The moment has finally arrived. It’s time for a break and a vacation. I’m off on hiatus and encourage you all to talk amongst yourselves until I return. Cheers!

Tired

After a very busy weekend, I’m tired. I need rest, I need sleep and I need peace and quiet to recover. After spending much of the weekend running around and trying to see as many people as possible, I’m exhausted. I really should know better than to jam pack my weekends…because it only leaves me feeling completely rundown by the time Sunday night rolls around.

After looking over my calendar from this past weekend, I don’t know what I was thinking when I was making my plans. There was no way I would’ve been able to survive had I kept all the plans that I had made. Yeah, I ended up having to cancel two of the plans for today…I didn’t run Bay to Breakers and I didn’t attend an orientation for the US Open. Not only did I have myself double booked for today, but I was still trying to recover from a jam packed day on Saturday. Not to mention, I had too much fun on Thursday and Friday night and stayed out (up) too late. Ugh. I’m not complaining. I’m not complaining. I. Am. Not. Complaining.

Anyway, I uploaded pictures from my trip to Napa on Saturday and I’m going to spend the rest of night recovering from the rest of my weekend.

Weekend Coming

It’s almost here…after a crazy week, here’s to an awesome night and a kickass weekend. I can't wait!

Big Purchase

The papers are ready, my checking account has been prepped and the time has come for me to make my big purchase. Yup, you heard me right, it’s finally time for me to cut that big fat check, sign the papers and seal the deal. Am I scared? Hell yeah I’m scared.

I’m about to write the biggest check I’ve ever written and it scares the hell out of me. Am I ready to part with this much money? Haha. Are you kidding me? Of course not! But let me try to be positive and look on the bright side of things before I start hyperventilating again. It's a good financial investment (yes, good financial investment), I've been saving for this moment for the past couple of years (yes, been diligently putting away money for this precise purchase) and I’m in a pretty good financial spot to handle it (yes, I have no other financial commitments to worry about)…so why I am so panicked?!?! I’m not as unprepared as most people, but yet that does little to comfort me and alleviate the fear and stress of it all. Ugh.

As soon as my hand stops shaking and the sweating disappears…I will sign the papers.

Juggling

Juggling is an art. I can definitely appreciate someone who can juggle because I’ve never been very good at it.

However, I’ve been spending the last couple of weeks practicing my juggling techniques and I’d have to say…I’m getting much better. How do I know this? Well, I haven’t dropped anything lately and haven’t had an accident. Haha. :) Because the shapes and numbers of things that I juggle can change at a moment’s notice, it’s taken some extra practice time to overcome these obstacles. But rest assured, it’s coming along quite nicely and I’m pretty proud of myself.

I wish I could elaborate on my juggling techniques…and/or ask you all for some of yours…but I’ll just leave it at this for now. Haha.

Gym Tunes

I've been hitting the gym pretty consistently these past couple of months but have noticed that my gym tunes haven't changed all that much. When I work out, I like listening to music that pumps me up and keeps my energy level high. However, there are very few songs that I really enjoy that can keep me motivated and excited while I’m working out. Sooo I keep a few of my favorites on repeat. I listed a few of them below:

Kelly Clarkson – Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) – The girl anthem heard around the world. I typically listen to this when I’m lifting weights. This song does wonders to piss me off and gets me motivated to want to do more.

Flo Rida – Good Feeling – An upbeat, fist pumping song meant to keep you moving and I can’t help but love this song. It has a good beat to it and it’s easy to listen to while on the treadmill.

Nicki Minaj – Starships – Another good treadmill song. This song keeps me moving and is upbeat enough to keep me happy.

David Guetta – Turn Me On – I have to admit that I have a number of David Guetta songs on my gym workout playlist. There is just something about the lyrics, beat and songs that I really love to listen to while I’m working out. This song in particular is just super hot and great to have blasting in my ears while I’m working the body.

Pitbull – International Love – I can’t explain my love for this song…I really can’t. However, if you catch me at the gym, this is probably the song that I have blasting through my headphones. I have this song on a constant repeat and it doesn’t fail to pump me up and get me moving.

What is the purpose of this post…? Probably that I need to update my playlist.

Spin

I'm taking a spin class at this new gym my friend dragged me to and it's totally kicking my ass. I mean completely drop kicking my ass. Here I thought I was in pretty good shape...but this instructor has a way of making me feel like a complete fatass. :-/

Now, I've taken plenty of spin classes before and I really like them. Spinning provides a pretty good cardio workout, a nice no-frills class to attend (none of this yoga and Pilates bullshit) and a good atmosphere to catch up with my workout buddies. However, this new gym and this spin instructor takes spin class to a whole 'nother level. He incorporates regular "spin" class routines along with boot-camp exercises...and it's downright exhausting. Not only are you expected to spin and mountain climb, but you have to jump off the bike and do sets of push-ups and squats before getting back on the bike and spinning some more. It's crazy hardcore. Haha. I mean, I've left his last two classes dripping wet with sweat and with my legs feeling like jelly. And I gotta say....I absolutely love it.

With that being said, I do have to give props to those folks who can stand being on a bike for more than an hour...personally, an hour is my limit.

Drama

Can I just reiterate how happy I am that I’m not on Facebook?

I met up with some friends over the weekend and found out about a whole bunch of drama being aired out on Facebook. I’m missing out on all the action…and I could not be happier. Although, my friends did fill me in on everything that I have been “missing” and not only do I find the whole situation a tad childish and pathetic…but it’s also just really sad. Haha.

So it’s times like this that I am glad that I’m not on Facebook and I don’t have to worry about getting sucked into all this nonsense. Seriously, thank goodness. I can honestly say that I happily am completely ignorant to everything on Facebook. If someone wanted me to know something, they’d have to tell me themselves. And I definitely like it that way.

The Avengers

So what did everyone think of The Avengers? Did you all love it as much as I did? :-)

It has been awhile since I've seen a movie on its opening day...so I really shouldn't have been surprised by all the hype surrounding it or all the comic book hero enthusiasts who rushed to see this movie this past weekend either. I mean, I certainly have been looking forward to this movie for the longest time and apparently I wasn't the only one. I mean, the movie made $200 million dollars in its opening weekend for cryin’ out loud. Haha. Sheesh. But ok, let’s talk about The Avengers.

First, let me start off with a few of my complaints about the movie. There weren't many...but I do have a few. The movie started off kinda slow and definitely took some time to warm up. I had to really work to keep myself involved and engaged during the first quarter of the movie. Also, the assembling of the Avengers seemed a little...bumpy. Pulling together all the characters could have been written a little better and executed a little smoother. Lastly, the climax fight scene in New York City lasted forever!!! There was no reason for the climax of the movie, and the biggest fight scene, to drag on for that long. I mean, yes, the special effects and damage to all the New York City sights was fun to watch...but geez, it seemed to go on waaaay too long. Fix those problems and this movie would've been perfect in my book.

Like I said, overall, I really liked the movie. The storyline was simple and easy to follow. The characters had their own roles/personalities pretty well established and meshed together nicely. And the dialogue was pretty well written. I have no complaints about the cast…since I thought all the characters’ were portrayed quite well and, in turn, the story was executed very nicely. I have to say that I loved Iron Man and The Hulk in this movie. Their one-liners kept the movie light, funny and entertaining. Iron Man's smartass character definitely provided a nice balance and complement to The Hulk's barbarian tendencies. Captain America and Thor also interacted well together and had some pretty good lines in the movie too. They were the muscle heads in the movie and played the roles pretty well. It was definitely a fun movie to watch.

The one thing I do regret is not refreshing and familiarizing myself with Iron Man, Thor and Captain America before watching this movie. It has been awhile since I've seen those movies and it would've been nice to have it all fresh in my mind prior to watching the movie. I did notice some references to things in those movies...and wish I made time for a Marvel's movie marathon before watching The Avengers. I guess that just means that I'm destined to have to watch this movie again. Haha...awesome! :-)

Almost Time

The Avengers is almost out...and the waiting is killing me. It's almost here, people...almost here. OMG...this is so exciting! OK...I have to remember to breathe. Must. Calm. Self. Haha.

I have my tickets and I'm totally ready for this. I've been waiting for this movie for months...and I'm so excited.

Midnight showing anyone? Anyone?

Oh and p.s...what the fuck is wrong with the Giants lately?!?!?

Credit Card

Last week I blogged about being on monetary lock down. But I guess I need to remind myself of that particular post…what did I say about being on lock down? What did I just say last week about cutting back on the spending?!?!?! I’m suppose to be on lock down…and yet, I’m not. You know why…??? Let me tell you why…it’s because I continue to overwork my credit card and rack up the charges. Ugh. It’s really quite awful.

I need someone to take this card away from me…take it away, hide it and don’t give it back! Wait wait…ok I take that back. Haha. If I'm going to ask someone to do something to help me…don’t take my card. What I really need is for someone to help me win the lottery. Yes, that’s what I need. I want to keep my credit card. I want to keep spending. And I want to still have money. So…I need someone to help me win the lottery. That sounds like a better plan, right? Haha.

I wish I could say that I regret my purchases. It would be much easier if I did. But…I don’t. That’s the problem. I have all these plans that I’m making…all these trips that I’m going to be taking…and all these cool things that I’m going to be doing…and I couldn't be more excited.

So until I get my credit card bill next month, I hope to enjoy this state of euphoria that I am in…and hope that I don’t completely collapse when I see that bill.

Preventive Care

I cannot stress the importance of preventive care. For those of us lucky enough to have medical insurance, I strongly encourage you all to take advantage of it and make sure all your tests and check-ups are up to date.

Yes, scheduling doctors’ appointments are never fun, simple or convenient but it’s something that needs to be done. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind of life and forget that your number one priority should always be to take care of your health…because no one else is going to do it for you. Staying on top of your health and taking the proactive steps needed to ensure that you are ok…is not something anyone should take for granted. You never want to find yourself in a situation where you regret not having known something life-savingly important and been able to do something about it earlier.

You can never put a price on your health or the health of your loved ones. So, again, I stress the importance of preventive care and encourage each and every one of you to take the necessary steps to make sure you are all ok. Don’t put off doing something tomorrow when you can just do it today.

…With all that being said, today is May 1st. My cleanse is officially over and it’s time to celebrate. Now don’t get me wrong, as much as I’ve missed everything I won’t be jumping right back into the swing of things since I don’t want to send my system into complete shock. So…baby steps, people. It’s all about baby steps. Cheers!
