Playoffs

Giants are in the playoffs. But you knew that already, right? …Right?!?! I mean, is there any better way to pass the time in October than to follow the Giants through the playoffs? Nope. I didn’t think so either.

As most of you know, I’m a Giants fan…and my family and all of my friends are Giants fans too. So I don’t think you want to hear me go on and on about how much I love the Giants or how great it is to watch them in the playoffs or how awesome it would be for them to win the World Series again…so let me instead talk about two groups of people I hate to encounter during the Giants postseason.

Lemme ask you this, where do all the Giants fans miraculously come from when the Giants are in the playoffs? I mean, where were these same people when the Giants were having to dig deep and were on a losing streak before the All-Star break earlier this summer? Where were these so-called fans last year when the Giants didn’t even make it to the playoffs? Did these people still want to go to Giants games to support the team? Did these people still sport their Giants gear when there was no Giants baseball in October? The quick answer is no. All sorts of “die-hard” Giants fans come out of nowhere and want to all of a sudden pretend they are the most hardcore fan in the area…and you know what? I’m onto you and I don’t like you. There’s no room in the stadium for bandwagoner fans. If you want to bandwagon for a team, pick one of the teams in Oaktown…they can use all the help they can get.

On the completely opposite end of the spectrum, believe it or not, there are actually some people who live in the Bay Area (and specifically in the City itself) who have no idea the Giants are in the playoffs…and really, who have no idea who the Giants are. I know, can you believe that? I mean, how can anyone be a true San Franciscan and not be a Giants fan? I find it completely outrageous and a total disgrace. These people are the ones who will walk around the City and be like…“what’s with all the orange around the City? What’s going on?” Blah blah blah. You know, just because you think you’re all liberal and you’re an environmentalist and you’re a freakin’ vegan…doesn’t make you a true San Franciscan. You’re not a true San Franciscan until you bleed orange and black! [Sidenote: this will change to red and gold in a few months when the Niners are in the playoffs and headed to the Super Bowl.]

Alright those are my two groups of people that I do not want to encounter over the course of this next month…bandwong-er Giants fans and oblivious (or ignorant) Bay Area sports people. If you know of anyone who will fall into either of those groups, can you please keep them away from me? That’d be great and much appreciated.

Postseason tickets go on sale tomorrow. :-)
