Boarding

I spent last Friday up in the mountains enjoying some time in the snow. I went up to Northstar with a couple of my coworkers to take advantage of the perfect weather. Since it had just rained/snowed a few days before our trip but was sunny and (almost) warm during our time up there, the conditions were completely ideal. And with only a few more opportunities to head up to the mountains to be able to play in the snow, I have to take advantage of every chance I get.

Speaking of nearing the end of snowboarding season, if I’m looking at my calendar correctly, I have definitely made enough trips up to the mountains to justify my season pass this year. And, I have to say, I’m getting pretty good. How do I know this? Well, on my latest trip up, I was actually able to keep pace with the group on those deadly black diamond runs and stay on my feet while coming down the mountain. And to me, that’s what you call progress! Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I’m awesome enough to enter into the X Games or anything like that…all I’m saying is that I consider my season pass a worthy investment.

Anyway, I upload my pictures from my most recent trip to Northstar, feel free to check ‘em out.

Vail

After spending a couple of days soaking up the snow in Vail, I must say, snow sports’ enthusiast must consider Colorado a mandatory visit. The place is awesome for snowboarding and is such a romantic winter vacation that I don’t know why I haven’t made the trek there before. The conditions were perfect during my trip – the snow/powder was amazing (great for boarding), the weather was blistering cold (made perfect for hot chocolate) and the crowds were minimal (almost seemed like I had the whole mountain to myself at times). The days were spent snowboarding and the nights were spent eating and walking around the village. It was really fun times.

Vail pictures have been uploaded and my screen shot of the morning temperature is below:

Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is only a few days away and I'm totally ready for it this year. Well, ok, maybe I shouldn't say that I'm totally ready...just ready. Haha. So when I talk about Chinese New Year, what does Chinese New Year mean to me? There are a few things that come to mind:

Cleaning - I have to make sure that everything is clean. Before the New Year arrives, everything must be clean. Sooo...I clean the bathrooms, I clean my rooms and I clean my desks. The piles are neat, the dust is gone and the order has been restored. Be proud because cleaning is a bitch.

New and Red - On Chinese New Year, I am always in something new and red. During the weeks leading up to the New Year, I love being able to go out and look for something to wear. You would think that any 'ole red item would do, right? Wrong. I need it to be new and I need to be red. I would hate for the gods of Chinese New Year to curse me with bad luck because I wasn't wearing what I'm suppose to be wearing. So red I wear.

Haircut - This is mainly for the boys. They have to get their haircut before the New Year arrives. I've never really been one to do this, since my haircuts usually wait until right before summer. However, all the boys I know definitely do make time to get their haircut before the holiday, so there must be something to that.

Eating - Food is abundant during the New Year. Everywhere I go, there is food...not just any food, Chinese food. Yummy. So I go out to eat with the family, I go out to eat with the boyfriend and I go out to eat with my friends. As you can see, there is a lot of time spent eating during the New Year. Do you hear anyone complaining? Oh no, not me. Pour me some tea, pass me some egg rolls and I'm a happy camper.

Family - Chinese New Year is a great excuse to head to Sacramento to hang out with my cousins. With all of us busy, it's harder and harder to get together and make time to hang out. However, nothing is more fun than being able to head to Sacramento with the fam to see my cousins. It's awesomely fun times and a great way to ring in the New Year. So...I anxiously await a trip to Sac in the coming weeks.

OK...that's all I got. Chinese New Year is on Sunday and I wish you all the best.

In Mourning

I sit here and write in a midst of gut wrenching pain. The Niners lost yesterday...and my soul hurts. Yes, it hurts. The Niners made it to the Super Bowl and it would have been amazing for them to bring home the trophy. But alas, it was not meant to be and now...we all weep.

I would like to have some great things to say about the great Niners' comeback, the awesome commercials or the stellar halftime show...but I just can't do it. The Niners' comeback means nothing without the win. Overcoming a 22-point deficit doesn't do anyone any good if you can't get the win. It sucks, but it's true. There weren't any super awesome commercials. Doritos, Budweiser and Taco Bell had noteworthy commericals and Go Daddy had a really creepy disturbing one, but there really wasn't anything completely awesome. As for the halftime show, Destiny's Child reunion was cool and Beyonce looked freakin' amazing...however, I wouldn't classify the show itself as stellar.

So overall, I'm just down and depressed and have nothing good to say today. It was a heartbreaking loss and it's too soon to talk about it. I'll be ready to talk next season.
