Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is only a few days away and I'm totally ready for it this year. Well, ok, maybe I shouldn't say that I'm totally ready...just ready. Haha. So when I talk about Chinese New Year, what does Chinese New Year mean to me? There are a few things that come to mind:

Cleaning - I have to make sure that everything is clean. Before the New Year arrives, everything must be clean. Sooo...I clean the bathrooms, I clean my rooms and I clean my desks. The piles are neat, the dust is gone and the order has been restored. Be proud because cleaning is a bitch.

New and Red - On Chinese New Year, I am always in something new and red. During the weeks leading up to the New Year, I love being able to go out and look for something to wear. You would think that any 'ole red item would do, right? Wrong. I need it to be new and I need to be red. I would hate for the gods of Chinese New Year to curse me with bad luck because I wasn't wearing what I'm suppose to be wearing. So red I wear.

Haircut - This is mainly for the boys. They have to get their haircut before the New Year arrives. I've never really been one to do this, since my haircuts usually wait until right before summer. However, all the boys I know definitely do make time to get their haircut before the holiday, so there must be something to that.

Eating - Food is abundant during the New Year. Everywhere I go, there is food...not just any food, Chinese food. Yummy. So I go out to eat with the family, I go out to eat with the boyfriend and I go out to eat with my friends. As you can see, there is a lot of time spent eating during the New Year. Do you hear anyone complaining? Oh no, not me. Pour me some tea, pass me some egg rolls and I'm a happy camper.

Family - Chinese New Year is a great excuse to head to Sacramento to hang out with my cousins. With all of us busy, it's harder and harder to get together and make time to hang out. However, nothing is more fun than being able to head to Sacramento with the fam to see my cousins. It's awesomely fun times and a great way to ring in the New Year. So...I anxiously await a trip to Sac in the coming weeks.

OK...that's all I got. Chinese New Year is on Sunday and I wish you all the best.
