Summer Movie List

In my attempt to distract myself from my busy schedule and not able to spare time for an actual vacation, I realize it’s time for me to see a movie. I don’t mean some random movie I already own or stream some movie online, I mean, I want to go to an actual theater, buy a bucket of popcorn (and a Cherry Coke), turn off my cell phone and sit down and watch a real movie (you notice how I said, turn off my cell phone, right?). I honestly can’t remember the last time I actually went to a theater to see a movie and you know what…? I realize I’m actually looking forward to it. So I put together a list of movies that I want to see and will (try to) make plans to see them in the theaters: 

May 10 – The Great Gatsby – Way back in the day when I went to school, there was this thing called a summer reading list. The Great Gatsby was on my summer reading list and it was one of my favorite books as a kid/pre-teen. I hope the movie lives up to what I remember from the book. 

May 15 – Star Trek Into Darkness – I’m definitely not a “trekky” and don’t know anything about the original Star Trek series, however, I did see the remake movie in 2009 and I actually really liked it (yes, I said I really liked it). So I plan to see the next one and hope it doesn’t disappoint. 

May 24 – The Hangover Part III – Yes, I’m gonna have to see this movie. I saw the first one and laughed my ass off. I saw the second one and thought it was…ok, at best, but still found parts of it pretty funny. And with the third movie, well, I’m lowering my expectations and hoping it’s going to be good enough to make me laugh and keep me entertained. There’s just something about those 3 guys that I find totally hilarious. 

June 7 – The Internship – Now ok, I may not actually make it to the theaters to see this movie, however, I do think every once in awhile I need to see a dumb ass, I-don’t-want-to-think-and-just-want-to-be-distracted, movie and…this might be the movie for me. But who knows, I’m still on the fence about this one. 

June 21 – Monsters University – I would like to think I’m a big Pixar fan. I mean, I loved Toy Story, Cars and Monsters Inc. However, lately…well, I’ve been nothing but disappointed by Pixar. Up was depressing, Cars 2 sucked and I haven’t even bothered to see Brave yet. So…I’m holding out hope Monsters University is going to restore my faith in Pixar and the world will be right again.
